• Access to the combined resources of Mechanics’ Institutes throughout Victoria and Australia through the Mechanics’ Institutes Resource Centre. The MIRC is a repository of valuable records and ephemera of current or closed Mechanics Institutes.
• Information sharing (both giving and receiving) of the knowledge of individuals and Institutions of like minded aims and ideals.
• Representation through the committee members and others of the MIV to local and State government bodies.
• Receiving a Newsletter issued four times per year which informs you of the problems and successes of other Mechanics Institutions or Halls throughout Victoria as well as matters of interest pertinent to the operation of MIs.
• Sharing in the development and preservation of Institutes, their Halls and buildings and the remarkable history of many of these organisations during the past 170 years or so.
• Enjoying the bus tours, meetings and events organised to celebrate our cultural heritage.
